都心の森で、見て、触って、体感することで
豊かな自然に感謝しようというイベント「OUTDOOR DAY JAPAN」
1920年にアメリカ・シアトルで創業された老舗の
アウトドアブランド”エディーバウアー ”が創立100周年を迎え
今までの軌跡と歴史的アイテムの誕生ストーリーなどを
日本のアウトドア好きが集まるイベントで展開しました。
テーマは “エディーバウアー氏が影響を受け生活してきた
シアトルの自然の中にあるログハウス”
「自らが作り、自らが試す」という信念を持っていたエディー氏
であればログハウスも自分で建てたであろう、という想定のもと
出来るだけ手作業を意識して、針葉樹を削り出し組み上げたパーゴラを
木目を生かした染色で仕上げています。
さらには、重ねてきた年数を表現するために、古傷や色褪せなどの
経年変化を施します。本物に敬意を払い忠実に。
ロゴのペイントを描いたアースカラーの特注タープには
ストリングライトがグリッド状にレイアウトされている。
これはエディーバウアーが生み出しだ世界初のダウンジャケット
“スカイライナー”のボディをオマージュしています。
アメリカのキャンピングトレーラー”エアストリーム”の中は
愛好家にはたまらないヴィンテージのジャケットの数々が
当時を演出するアンティークのディスプレイとともに展示されている。
エディーバウアーが100年かけて積み重ねてきた歴史が
”アメリカン レガシー”そのものだと伝えるための
重厚な空間演出です。
"OUTDOOR DAY JAPAN" is an event that aims to give thanks to
the richness of nature by seeing, touching, and experiencing it
in a forest in the city.
Eddie Bauer, a long-established outdoor brand founded in Seattle,
USA in 1920, celebrated its 100th anniversary by sharing its history
and the stories behind the creation of its historic items at an event
that brought together outdoor enthusiasts in Japan.
The theme is "A log cabin in the Seattle countryside, where
Eddie Bauer was inspired and lived."
Based on the assumption that Eddie, who believed in "making it
himself and testing it himself," would have built the log house himself,
the house is made as much by hand as possible, with softwood carved
and assembled, and finished with a dye that brings out the wood grain.
In addition, to express the years that have passed, the house is given
patina such as old scratches and fading. It is faithful and respectful
of the real thing.
The custom-made earth-toned tarp has the logo painted on it and
string lights laid out in a grid.
This pays homage to the body of the Skyliner, the world's first down
jacket created by Eddie Bauer.
Inside the American camper trailer "Airstream," a number of
vintage jackets that are a must-have for enthusiasts are on display
along with antique displays that evoke the atmosphere of the time.
This is a profound spatial presentation that conveys that the history
that Eddie Bauer has built up over the past 100 years is the
very definition of "American Legacy."
